• 中文摘要： 中央研究院物理研究所地震組，於民國六十二年底，接受交通部南北高速公路局之委託，進行研究中苗段地區地震問題，筆者受命執行此計劃。本文即報告地震組八週野外微小地震調查（Microearthquake Investigation）資料，民國二十四年大地震餘震資料，及中央氣象局過去地震資料，綜合分析之結果。中苗段系指苗栗豐原地區，在臺灣中西部，本文研究範圍為北緯24°00'至24°00'之間，及東經121°00'以西地區。民國二十四年大地震，遺留許多斷層痕跡，總數達十公里，根據中國石油公司及經濟部發表之臺灣地質圖(2)，有好幾條斷層在該地區(見圖三)，由微小地震調查，可指示這些斷層中，那些是具有活動性的，本文分節述明，微小地震調查經過，資料處理步驟與結果。
• 英文摘要： Sponsoring by the Freeway Bureau, a microearthquake survey has been fulfilledin the area of Miaoli-Fengyuan, the central western part of Taiwan. at the end of1973. Conbined the microearthquake data and a disastrous earthquake on April 21.1935 in that area, we get several fault plane solutions. The results suggest a groupactive fault in that area.
