The concentration polarization of ion exchange membrane electrodialysis
has been studied with Selemion Electrodialyzer DU-Ob which consists of eleven
pairs of cation exchange membrane Selemion CMV and anion exchange membrane
Selemion AMV. The limiting current densities have been measured for various
concentrations of dialysate and brine at constant temperature and various flow rates.
It is found that the limiting current density does not change significantly with the
concentration difference of brine and dialysate, but depends on the concentration of
dialysate and flow rate. The limiting current density can be correlated to concent-
ration of dialysate, Cd, and flow rate, V, by the equation. Ii4m=0.163 Cd0.923V0.337,
