The phosphorescence Spectra of pure oxine and bivalent oxinates, namely, magnesium, calcium, manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and lead were studied at 77°K in rigid glass solution for the purpose of evaluation their phosphorescence efficiencies as related to the atomic number which permit qualitative deduction to be made in regard to the magnetic susceptibility and greater orbital interaction with atoms of higher atomic number (Z). Certain qualitative information on metal bonding, based on their comparative intensities of phosphorescence is presented.
The solvent mixtures used for phosphorescence studies were EP (1:1), EPA (1:2:8) and EPAF (6:5:3:0.5). the absorption spectra of both the pure solvents and the mixtures mentioned above were studied at room temperature for the purpose of characterizing the type of transition. They all showed appreciable red shifts and were then interpreted in terms of π-π* triplet transition. - 英文摘要: --
