- 英文摘要: Metal-clad fiber polarizers have been thoroughly studied. A new method for fabricating high quality polarizers with simplicity and high efficiency is introduced. Compact and endurable polarizers are fabricated easily by polishing the fiber 0~0.4μ down to its core, and then overcoating it with a 265nm thick MgF2 film and a l00nm thick Al film, consecutively. The optimal depth of polishing is accurately and quickly determined by measuring the throughput attenuation as a low refractive index liquid-drop is applied. Polarizers made in this way have an average extinction ratio of 28dB with an insertion loss of 2dB at 0.63μ wavelength, or a 34dB extinction ratio with a 3dB loss at 0.82μ
