When zeolite 13X, Na86 [(Al2)86 (SiO2)105]‧264H2O, was treated with ferric thio-
cynate solution, ion exchange reaction took place between sodium ions and ferric ions
to form Fe containing zeolite. The concentration of ferric thiocynate solution, particle
size of zeolite, and the reaction time greatly affected the exchanged percentage of
sodium ion. X-ray diffractiona1 analysis showed that the ion exchanged zeolite remained
its crystalline structure when the exchange percentage of sodium ions goes up to 20%.
The dehydration of n-hexanol was proceeded on Fe containing zeolite to test catalytic
activity. The catalytic activity increases with Fe content in zeolite, but decreases
violently with the exchange percentage up to 20%. This behavior was explained in the
basis of the heterogencity of the zeolite surface and crystalline distortion of zeolite. - 中文關鍵字: --
