Laser pyrolysis of (方程式無法摘錄) induced by 488 nm argon ion laser radiation was studied. Decom-
position began with the appearance of a bright yellowish-red emission at the focal point of the laser
radiation on the surface of the substrate which was a Pyrex glass plate and a black cylindrical rod grew
along the direction of the laser beam. The growth rates in weight as well as in length were measured in this
study. Their diameters were larger than the size of the laser spot. The emission from the tips of the growing
cylindrical rods had a continuous spectrum similar to that of the black body radiation. The temperatures
measured by an optical pyrometer at various growing conditions were found in the range of 1050 to
1800?C, and depended on the laser power and the pressure of (方程式無法摘錄) . The activation energy for the
product of the cylindrical rods was about 11.03 kcal/mole.
