- 中文摘要: Increasing the level of proficiency in science teachers in order to increase the level of proficiency in science learning among students is a significant challenge for the education reform movement in the United States. This challenge is being addressed at the state level by legislation requiring testing prior to entry into the teaching field. However, given a scarcity of new teachers, this approach is unlikely to remain viable. In contrast, some grassroots approach to change the way teachers think about science and changing science teaching via the development of assessments does hold promise. These complementary strategies are discussed within the context of American education and reform.
