- 中文摘要: In this paper, the Bellman's quasilinearization method for solving nonlineartwo-point boundary-value (TPBV) problems is first introduced and explained usingtwo examples. Then this method is applied to investigate the behavior of elastic deformationof a sandwich column whose Young's modulus is not constant but varies with thecurvature or the deflection. A complete example including numerical results ispresented. In the Appendix of this paper, the author also applies the Rayleigh-Ritz methodto obtain the relationship between axial compression and lateral displacement for asandwich column of variable cross-section. Then he describes briefly how thequasilinearization method can be extended to solving initial value problems; anexample being supplemented.
