- 英文摘要: The endocrine pancreas is an organ of enormous impor-tance, since its dysfunction causes diabetes, one of themost common human diseases in the world. Regulationof pancreatic endocrine cell determination and differenti-ation requires a unique set of transcription factors, in-cluding basic helix-loop-helix and homeodomain-con-taining proteins. The physiological role of individualtranscription factor has been characterized by gene dis-ruption in the mouse. The results indicate that thesegenes are not only involved in tissue-specific activationof downstream target genes for islet-specific hormones, but also critical for the proper islet morphogenesis.Future elucidation of the genetic relationship of thesegenes will lead to a better understanding of the molecu-lar mechanisms controlling endocrine pancreas forma-tion and will contribute to the development of new thera-peutic approaches to diabetes.
