Differential reactor techniques were used to measure the rate of sorption
of hydrogen chloride into small particles of pulverized limestone. The rate was
measured over a range of temperatures and HCl concentrations in the gas. At the
temperature of 500℃ or higher, the rate of sorption is controlled by the diffusion
through the product layer in the solid particles. At a low temperature, it seems
to be controlled by the chemical reaction between HCl and uncalcined limestone.
