並圖繪此可能之形態序列變化過程。4 - 英文摘要: The protoplast formation and the cell wall regeneration of two lysine-producing auxotrophs, Brevi-bacterium lactofermentum ATCC 21086 and Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 21513, were studied todevelop a breeding system for the coryneform bacteria by means of protoplast fusion. 70-80% of trueprotoplasts were obtained by the penicillin lysozyme method from early log-phase cells of these bacteria.Approximately 1-11% of these protoplasts regenerated on a solid medium with a soft agar overlayer.Electron micrograph showed that protoplast might be able to emerge from the cell wall through a weakpoint at one end of the cell. Photomicrographic evidence of reversion of protoplasts to normally rod orV-shaped cells on agar plates was demonstrated and a hypothetical sequence of cell wall regeneration wasproposed as follows. An extruder appeared first from each of the protoplasts and then grew longer. Afterseptum formation, the extruder was observed as a sausage-like cell cluster. Finally, normal morphology ofcorynebacteria was formed.
