A simulation model of a seeded continuous emulsion polymerization
process for styrene is proposed. It has been suggested that the polymer particle
concentration, conversion as well as molecular weight of polymer can be improved
by applying an appropriate seeded reactor in connection with a main continuous
flow stirred tank. It is indicated that polymer particle concentration, conversion
and molecular weight of polymer in such seeded continuous process show higher
values than those obtained in the normal CSTR process. The MWD of polymer can
keep principally an unique feature throughout the polymerization as that observed
