Axial liquid mixing in fixed and fluidized beds containing a binary mixture
of different sized particles was studied using pulse response technique. The tracer
used was light emissive fluorescein dye. Three regions characterized the different
particle mixing state including complete intermixing, partial segregation, and complete
segregation were examined for the liquid mixing. The axial dispersion coefficient
was correlated in terms of hydrodynamic properties. The application of the corre-
lation in predicting the liquid dispersion in both single sized and two sized particle
