• 中文摘要： 影像分割是電腦視覺及圖形識別研究上一項極為基本且重要的工作。在本論文中，我們提出了一個以色彩為基礎的影像分割方法來分割彩色影像。 首先我們就目前已有的色彩空間（color space）做一分析與比較。而後挑選出一個具有三維色彩均等分佈（3-D uniformchromaticity scale）的色彩空間來將其轉變成與人類視覺系統（human visual system）的特性相吻合的IHS型態。然後訂定此色彩空間的有色（chromatic）及無色（achromatic）區域範圍。影像就根據影像點在此色彩空間的分佈情形被分割成有色及無色區。接著分析此色彩空間的各屬性（attribute）的特性；就各屬性的特性，我們以一維的梯圖分割法（histogramthresholding）來各別分割影像的有色及無色區。最後再以區域擴張法來解決過度分割（oversegmentation）的問題。 依各種不同應用的需求，我們可以從上述的觀念推演出各種不同的處理方式（approach）。例如，我們可以利用上述的觀念來推演出分割彩色影像成一些有意義區域的處理方式。例如一朵花的影像不會因花瓣的新舊而被分割成好幾個區域，或一條路的影像不會因路上樹木、建築物的陰影而被分割成許多區域…等。我們也可以利用上述的觀念推演出擷取（extract）彩色影像中某種特定顏色區域的處理方式。這種處理方式可應用於無人自動車（autonomous land vehicle）的找路問題上，可去除影像中陰影（shade）的影響因素，可分離墨水污染支票上的字跡，可擷取彩色文件、地圖上不同顏色的資訊…等等。在我們的論文中包含了上述多種不同應用的處理方式。
• 英文摘要： Image segmentation is an essential and important task for computer vision and pattern recognition. In thispaper a general approach for color image segmentation using uniform-chromaticity-scale perceptual color attributesis proposed First, chromatic and achromatic areas in a perceptual IHS color space are defined. Then, an imageis split into chromatic and achromatic regions according to the distribution of the image pixels in the color space1-D histogram thresholding for each color attribute is performed to segment the chromatic and achromatic regions.Lastly, a region-growing technique is used to solve the oversegmentation problem. In experiment, we demonstratethe power of the proposed approach; we derive algorithms from the general approach to segment a flower image,to extract a shade-road from scene images of an autonomous land vehicle, to extract color-based information fromcolor documents, etc. The approach can overcome the shade problem in images.
