國中學生邏輯推理能力與科學和數學學業成就的關係

本研究以紙筆測驗方式,評估我國國中學生的邏輯推理能力發展概況,結果顯示: (1)邏輯推理能力與年齡之間,有極顯著相關存在,r=0.48,P<0.001。 (2)國二、國三學生的邏輯推理能力發展,在不同取樣地區之間(市區和郊區)以及性別之間,均未現顯著差異,而A樣本(市區國中)國一學生的邏輯推理能力則優於B樣本(郊區國中),且以女生為甚。 (3)國中學生自然科學(生物、物理、化學)和數學學業成就與邏輯推理能力之間,呈現極顯著相關,r值由0.220~77,P<0.O1。就不同地區樣本言,A樣本之r值顯著大於B樣本。 本文的結果顯示,自然科學和數學課程的編製以及教學,應顧及學生的邏輯推理能力發展,以幫助學生形成科學概念,達到學習的目標。

A Piagetian Logical Reasoning Test(PLRT) was given to 2005 studentsfrom three junior high schools of Taipeiarea. The results indicated that logicalreasoning abilities and maturity aresignificantly correlated with a Pearsoncorrelation coefficient of 0.48 at p<0.001. There were no significant diff-erences in the development of logicalreasoning abilities between A (urban)and B (suburban) areas at 8th and 9thgrades and between boys and girlsfrom both areas at all grades. However,7th grade students of A area were foundto be more advanced than those of Barea. A relatively high degree correlationhas been found to exist betweenachievement in science, mathematicsand logical reasoning ability. The cor-relation coefficients were positive andsignificant at all grade levels (0.22≦r≦0,77, p<0.01). In addition, thecorrelation coefficients of A area weresignificantly higher than those of B area. The data obtained from this studysuggested that the curriculum develop-ment and instruction of science andmathematics should give more conside-ration to the cognitive developmentstatus of the target students.
