- 中文摘要: Five of the nine moderately severe and severe ionospheric storms occurredduring June 1968-May 1969 are studied, especially for the undulation or travelingionospheric disturbance (TID) superposed on the regular DS and Dst variations. The electron density depressions during the storms are sometimes larger at low-latitude station, Taipei, than at higher latitude stations. The atmospheric gravitywave generated in auroral zone may cause the density depression as well as thelarge-scale TID. The TID originated at the northern or southern polar regionstravels toward the equator with a speed of 600-1100 m/s. The average value for allthe storms is approximately 800 m/s. The effect of TID is most clearly exhibited atthe height of maximum electron density, and is the smallest at the top-side ionosphere.
