• 中文摘要： 本文探討結合英語教學及教育工學理論研究成果以應用於開發多媒體英語教材，並以一項國科會計畫自製研發出的軟體為例說明，此處多媒體是指電腦主控的交談式影碟系統(IVD)。本文自理論出發，舉凡英語學習理論、研究結果、教學法、教育工學上的新知見等各種文獻都廣泛檢閱、評估，再將這些理論和研究成果注入我們開發的教材上。我們的軟體用現成英語電影碟片，製作適合大學生學習英文的教材。其設計含四個單元及三個副單元：內含超劇本(Hyperscript)、直線觀劇等。它有介紹、呈現內容部分，也有提供練習題的副單元。在直線觀劇中，學生可在學習過程中完全控制影碟：自行決定放映次序，一次放映之份量等等，有問題時，可自電腦螢幕上尋求單字、文化背景、中英文腳本、內容摘要、重覆句子等之輔助以了解吸收教材。在超劇本中，學生若有生字，可找對應的中文解釋，或圖形、聲音、全動影片來輔助了解文句意義。本文提供許多製作多媒體的經驗，最後並設計數個正式研究方案，以了解學生使用IVD學習之情形，並進一步評估我們課題之效能。
• 英文摘要： In recent years, interactive videodisc (IVD) has emerged as one of the most popular multimedia ap-plications in CALL. National Tsing Hua University obtained a government grant and launched an IVDproject which aims to promote English proficiency for foreign language learners. As many IVD demon-strations have shown the excitement language teachers experience and the huge array of possibilities IVDmay bring to our profession, there arc still not enough serious attempts to address how IVD can be effec-tive, especially for EFL instruction, based on theories and practices. This paper, based on the belief thatgrounded theoretical motivation for technological innovations should always lead CALL development,addresses design considerations for IVD development by tailoring second language acquisition theories andpractice as well as by adopting the instructional design concepts from the field of educational technology.Various SLA models such as the negotiated interaction model and the cognitive processing model areevaluated first. Subsequently, research findings about language IVD projects are synthesized into the designof our current project. Then, the objective setting, instructional design, and on-line implementation areexplained in detail. Lastly, we demonstrate how such considerations above have been implemented in ourproject, with proposed evaluation research of the language learning multimedia material.
