Effect of reactor arrangement on conversion for single ractions is
quantitatively studied for the isothermal tubular-mixed flow reactor system ?
and the mixed-tubular flow reactor system (MT). Various orders of reaction are
taken into account.
The curves presented, obtained through analytical methods, show the variation
of conversion with M/T volume ratio and M section dimensionless residence time.
Though TM arrangement is preferred for reaction order greater than one,
and MT preferred for reaction order less than one, the advantage of one over the
other is negligibly small. That means, early mixing or late mixing is not signifi-
cantly important for isothermal reactions. The more important factor is mixing
