• 中文摘要： This paper reviewed research that explored the impact of principal leadership. The period of review extends from 1970 up to 1999. The author focused more on the existence of the impact, the contents of the impact, and the variation of the impact. Seventy-nine studies of principal's impact on some aspect of students, teachers, parents or communities, principals themselves, and the whole schools were review. Several findings were found. More efforts should be made to investigate the impact of principal leadership. It is helpful to consider the change of the concept of principal leadership based on the change of research topics. The impact of principal leadership did exist. School leaders were capable of having a significant influence on people, processes, and outcomes of school. Specific leadership practices were identified to have more positive impact, although there were some variations. Finally, several recommendations related to the practice of principal leadership and the research of principal leadership were made by the author.
