The adsorption capacities of the proposed resin for Co(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Pb(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ), Mo(Ⅵ) and U(Ⅵ) were measured at various pH values. The uptake of the metal ions increasedwith pH and was quantitative over pH 4 for most of the metal ions. The half saturation time of the resinfor Cu(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ) and U(Ⅵ) were 1 min, 0.5 min, and 3.5 min, respectively. The value of the dissociationconstant of the thiohydroxamlc acid group was and the conditional stability constants of resin forFe(Ⅲ), U(Ⅵ), Ag(Ⅰ), Cu(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅱ), V(Ⅴ) ana Mo(Ⅵ) were andrespectively, at 25°C and μ= 0.2 M (KCl). An investigation also has been made of the uptake oftrace elements from both deionized water and tap water by a flow system of the short column of thethiohydroxamate resin.
