- 中文摘要: Computer programs that help instructors to present as well as conduct simulations have become very popular. Differences in learning outcomes between using computer-simulated courseware and a conventional textbook approach were investigated in this study. A total of 80 sophomore students, majoring in industrial education at National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan, were selected as subjects. An entry level test was conducted to separate the students into two groups as high and low entry levels. The students in the two groups were further assigned to computer-simulation and conventional textbook groups. The instructional topics focused on basic refrigeration technology. A commercial simulation software package was used by the experimental group. A post-test, which involved three types of knowledge, was administered at the end of the experiment to determine the efficacy of the different types of instruction. Analysis of variance and a posteriori comparisons were applied in data analysis. Among the three types of knowledge, the computer simulation courseware most helped students to gain procedural knowledge while the conventional textbook approach most helped students to gain factual knowledge. The efficacy of computer-simulated courseware vs. a conventional textbook approach in teaching certain aspects of technology, in terms of learners' levels of entry skills and different types of knowledge, was revealed by the results of this study.
