- 英文摘要: A combined analytical-numerical study on the axisymmetric slow motion of a finite chain of spherical droplets along their line of centers is presented. The spheres may differ in radius, in viscosity and in migration velocity, and they are allowed to be unequally spaced. Using a boundary-collocation technique, the creeping flow equations are solved in the quasi-steady situation and the interaction effects among the droplets are calculated for various cases. The numerical solutions can be obtained to any desired degree of accuracy by the increase of the collocation points on each droplet interface. For the motion of two-droplet systems, our results for the droplet interaction parameters agree very well with the exact solutions obtained by using spherical bipolar coordinates and tangent sphere coordinates. A calculation of the droplet interaction effects for the drag forces on chains of three droplets reveals that the existence of the third sphere can significantly affect the drags on the other two spheres. Drag results are also presented for the motion of chains containing up to 101 identical and equally spaced spheres, and the shielding effect exhibited by a chain of spheres can be found.
