- 中文摘要: Of the many diseases affecting field tobacco, TVMV (tobacco vein-bandingmosaic virus) is the most destructive one in Taiwan in recent years. From thepresent studies it has been found that green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer)),can be an efficient vector in transmitting the disease. Results are showed as follows: 1. TVMV could be induced by transferring one viruliferous green peach aphidon healthy tobacco plant, but the percentage of plant infected agreed well with thenumber of aphids used. 2. Two minutes of inoculation feeding period is needed for viruliferous aphids onhealthy plant in transmitting TVMV. 3. The ability of transmission could be obtained for virus-free aphids by puttingthem on source plant for five minutes stay. 4. The virus persists in the vector not more than 4 hours. 5.0f 12 Nicotiana species tested, with an exception of N. glauca, are susceptibleto TVMV. 6. Insecticides and. skin milk are of value in reducing spread of the diseasewithin a period of 24 hours after sprays.
