- 中文摘要: 臺灣之相思子簇葉病(jequrity rosary pea witches' broom)係第一作者於1984年在南投地區發現之新病害。病株叢生小葉、黃化、綠化花、顯現異常分蘗之典型簇葉病微。田間採集之病株葉脈組織超薄切片之電子顯微鏡觀察結果,篩管細胞內有多數多形性擬菌質體(mycoplasma-like organisms)存在,呈球形、惰圓形、及圓形等大小不同之各種形態,直徑約160~560 nm。健全株則沒有擬菌質體。病株莖葉切片,同時經Dienes' stain染色,並以光學顯微鏡觀察,結果在罹病篩管細胞內,顯現專一性藍色之Dienes' stain染色反應,健株者則無此反應。此項專一性染色反應表示其擬菌質體之存在,其存在位置及數量與電子顯微鏡觀察結果相似。以上結果顯示擬菌質體似為相思子(Abrus precatorius Linn.)簇葉病之病原。
- 英文摘要: Witches' broom of the jequrity rosary pea (Abrus precatorius Linn.) was a newly recorded diseasefound in the Nantou district in central Taiwan in 1984. The diseased plants showed the typical witches'broom symptoms comprising bushy little leaves, green flowers and abnormal conical shoots. Numerouspleomorphic bodies characteristic of a mycoplasma-like organism (MLO) were observed in veinal sieveelements of the diseased leaves under electron microscopy. They were spherical, ovoid, or ellipsoidal, andabout 160 to 560 nm in diameter. No such MLO bodies were found in the healthy plant. The stem andleaf sections were also examined under the light microscope after treatment with Dienes' stain. The specificblue staining reaction was noticed in the affected phloem cells, but no such reaction was detected in thoseof the healthy ones. The staining which revealed the presence of MLOs in the sieve elements was in accordwith results observed by electron microscopy. We suggest an MLO etiology for the witches' broom of thejequrity rosary pea.
