• 中文摘要： 一個成功的虛擬教育環境必須能模擬傳統環境的精髓，亦即，課堂上老師與學生之間的互動關係，以及課外時同學們的互動關係，在利用網路及電腦的虛擬教育環境中，必須依然能夠維持。 針對此兩種不同的互動關係，我們發展出兩套系統以提供所需之功能。第一套為“多點傳輸主幹上之桌上型虛擬教室系統”，這套系統能提供傳統教育環境下師生間的互動關係，它提供一個遠距教學的環境，讓相隔兩地的開課者（老師）及參與者（學生）彼此相互連繫起來，開課者可以開一堂課讓參與者加入，並將影像及聲音多點傳給所有課堂上的所有參與者，而參與者能從自己的螢幕及喇叭看到並聽到開課者，我們設計了一個課堂控制協定讓開課者能控制參與者進入該課堂及傳輸影像的行為。 另一套為“CORAL：多伺服器架構的遠距合作學習系統”，這套系統能提供傳統教育環境下同學間的互動關係，此系統為一個以全球資訊網為基礎的遠距合作學習系統，它能提供(1)使用者讀取遠端教材、找尋學習同伴，並達到合作學習，(2)指導者可以監視及研究學習活動，(3)管理者可以獨立的操作及管理他自己的CORAL'伺服器。我們同時也加入一些新功能，包含導覽系統，郵件系統，及學習查詢系統。
• 英文摘要： A successful virtual educational environment must be able to emulate the kernel of a traditionalenvironment. That is, interactions must be maintained to preserve the relationship between the teacherand learners in the on-line class and the relationships among the off-line learners. We developed two systems to provide the needed functions which can provide on-line and off-lineinteraction. One is the“desktop virtual classroom system on Mbone”. This system can handle on-lineinteraction between a teacher and learners in a traditional educational environment. It provides a distantteaching environment in which chairmen (teachers) and participants (learners) can be connected remotelyfrom their own workstation sites. The chairman can create a class session for participants to join andmulticast his or her video/audio to all the participants in the session so that participants can see/hear thechairman's video/audio from their monitors/speakers. A Class Session Control Protocol is developed toallow the chairman of a session to control class entrance and video/audio sent by participants in this session. The other system is“CORAL. a multi-server distant cooperative learning system”. The systemcan handle off-line interaction among learners. The system is a WWW-based distant and cooperativelearning system which (1) provides users with access to remote class materials. finds learning partners,and conducts cooperative learning; (2) provides instructors to monitor and study learning activities: (3)provides managers to operate and maintain local servers independently.
