- 英文摘要: Steroid hormones are important physiological regula-tors that control our glucose and salt balance, as well assexual characteristics. The synthesis of steroid hor-mones is under tight control:disturbed secretion of ste-roids often leads to diseases. The mechanism controllingthe secretion of steroids, namely steroidogenesis, hasbeen the focus of intensive studies. CYP11A1 controlsthe first and rate-limiting step of steroid biosynthesis.It isexpressed in the adrenal cortex and gonads, under thecontrol of pituitary hormones, through the cAMP-signal-ing pathway. The promoter of the CYP11A1 gene con-tains sequences that bind to transcription factor SF-1,which plays an important role in the tissue-specific andhormonally regulated expression of steroidogenicgenes. Detailed transcriptional analysis documents theimportance of SF-1 in activating CYP11A1 in vitro and invivo. Other factors like c-Jun are also involved.Theassembly of various transcription factors forming pro-tein-DNA complexes appears to be the key step inCYP11A1 transcription.
