- 中文摘要: Neutron slowing down density in hydrogen, deuterium, graphite, water, heavywater, and polyethylene at 10 kev, 100 ev, and 1.44 ev (indium resonance) from U235fission were determined by the Monte Carlo Method. A digital computer programNSD (neutron slowing density)was specially written for this purpose. In NSDprogram, energy dependent cross-sections are used in calculations, and the inelasticproperties are also considered. Fermi-ages, neutron slowing down number distributions,neutron slowing down density distributions, second moments and fourth moments ofthe s. d. neutron distributions at three assigned energies are the program outputs ofeach run. To study these s. d. properties, 5000 neutron histories each were generatedfor water, heavy water, and polyethylene, and 2000 histories each were generatedfor hydrogen, deuterium, and graphite. By comparing the calculated ages of waterat indium resonance with the recent published values, we know that all the resultsof the computation are quite satisfactory. The calculated quantities are summarizedin a table, and the distributions of s. d. numbers and s. d. densities are displayed inin six diagrams.
