Complexes of Ni(II), Cu(II) and Pd(II) with 2′-hydroxy-4′-methyl-5′-chloro chalcone oxime (HMCCO) have been synthesized and characterized. The analytical data show the metal:ligand stoichiometry to be 1:2 Thermal studies of above ligand and chelates were done. The order of thermal stability was found to be Pd>Ni>Cu. The theoretical interpretation conform to the fact that conjugation and the presence of an additional aromatic ring, in the ligand, are responsible for the thermal stability of Pd, Ni and Cu-chelates. Thus the advantage of this ligand for thermogravimetric analysis with these metal ions has been suggested. IR spectral study reveals that in complexes —C=N— band
︱
frequencies are lower than in HMCCO
Whereas O-H frequency bands in complexes are found to be absent. This shows that chelation of metal ions takes place through the oxygen of phenolic group and nitrogen of oxime group. - 英文摘要: --
