- 中文摘要: With the development of telecommunications and information technology, an asynchronous learning system which overcomes the limitations of time and space has created the potential to make learning available to all people in the future. In order to provide learners with appropriate learning resources and environments, it is important to take into account the degree of difficulty of teaching materials and learner's interest when operating an asynchronous learning network system. Thus, this study investigated characteristics related to asynchronous materials and proposes a material characteristics model. This model investigates relationships among the degree of difficulty of teaching materials, students' interests, and their abilities. The study findings show that an asynchronous learning system can provide adaptive material for students with different learning abilities, and hence can achieve the goal of adapting specific learning environments to students with different needs and interests. Meanwhile, the results of the Material Characteristics Model (CMC) based on the learning profile can be employed to assess students' learning behavior. Thus an asynchronous learning system can become more complete when an adaptive learning system based on the Material Characteristics Model is employed together with the Computerized Adaptive Test (CAT). Finally, this study examines experimental statistics, analyzes the learning record of an asynchronous curriculum, and validates the accuracy of the Material Characteristics Model.
