A gas mixture containing two gases or two separated gases which diffuse
and react with each other in a liquid is discussed mathematically. The chemical
reaction rate expression is second order. The nonlinear differentia1 equations representing
mass balances and corresponding to the film theory are solved numerically. The results,
represented as the ratio of the mass transfer coefficient with reaction to what without
and the fraction of the diffusing substance getting through the liquid film without
reaction, are found to depend on the reaction rate constant, diffusion coefficients, and
concentration of reactants. At the same conditions the mass transfer coefficients for the
