- 中文摘要: 本文以西南王米螟,Diatraea grandiosella為題材報導(1)幼蟲咽喉側腺切除術及(2)手術對本蟲變態與卵巢發育之影響。西南王米螟為美國主要玉米害蟲之一,其幼蟲之咽喉側腺在位置上與大多數幼蟲有異,因此適用於一般情形的咽喉側腺切除術對此幼蟲無用。本文所述之方法乃專為西南玉米螟幼蟲所設計,一反過去由頭頸部背面開刀的慣例,創先由頭部的腹面開刀。手術後成活率可高達百分之九十五以上。也可用以摘除二化螟、條螟、及粟螟等蟲之幼蟲咽喉側腺,過去有關昆蟲腺體手術的程序多半師徒相傳,鮮有將詳情為文公開的。本文希望拋磚引玉,使更多「祕技」得以公閉。 據本文數據所示,手術後雌性幼蟲仍能發育,變態為外形正常的蛹與成蟲。惟此類成蟲之卵巢乾重僅及未經手術的成蟲的一半。由此推論幼蟲後期時的咽喉側腺似可直接或間接的影響卵巢的發育。詳情則有待進一步的探討。
- 英文摘要: A microsurgical method is described for removing corpora allata from larvae of Diatraea grandiosella.Allatectomy was performed from the ventral aspect with minimal hemolymph loss and no damage to thesubesophageal ganglion, corpora cardiaca and brain. Consequently, operated larvae recovered fully andcompleted their metamorphosis. Post-surgical mortality was less than 5% indicating the procedure is sound.Allatectomy significantly retarded ovarian development. The average dry mass of paired ovaries fromcontrol groups weighed almost twice that of allatectomized animals. Data indicate that the presence ofcorpora allata in mature larvae is essential for normal egg development which begins in the pupal stage.
