- 英文摘要: The objective of the present study was to evaluate theeffect of oxidative stress induced by feeding various lev-els of selenium on steroidogenesis and DNA damage inmouse testes. To create various levels of oxidative stressin mice, diets with three different Se levels were fed toseparate groups for 8 weeks. Group 1 animals were fed ayeast-based diet, which was considered a Se-deficientdiet (0.02 ppm). Group 2 and 3 animals were fed a Se-deficient diet supplemented with 0.2 and 1 ppm Se assodium selenite, respectively. After completion of thediet feeding, estimations were carried out, and resultswere compared with those of group 2. A significantdecrease in Se levels was observed in group 1 animals,whereas they were greatly enhanced in group 3. Gluta-thione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity was greatly reducedin both the liver and testes in group 1, whereas no signif-icant changes were found in GSH-Px activity in group 3.Serum luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hor-mone (FSH), and testosterone levels were reduced ingroup 1. Significant decreases of sperm number andmotility were observed in group 1 when compared togroup 2 male mice. No changes in these parameterswere observed in group 3. DNA fragmentation wasobserved in both groups 1 and 3; however, the damagewas more prevalent in group 1. The results clearly dem-onstrate the effect of oxidative stress generated by feed-ing various Se levels on the steroidogenesis and DNAfragmentation in mice testes.
