吃素人血生成因素的研究

Serum Vit. B,2, total iron bindingcapacity (TIBC) and unsaturated ironbinding capacity (UIBC) levels weremeasured by the methods of radiosorbentassay techniques, using Pharmacia's(Sweden)Phadebas B Test, Res-O-MatFe TIBC Diagnostic Kit, and Res-O-MatFe UIBC kit respectively. The ironvalues were calculated from TIBC andUIBC. In addition routine liver functiontests, hematological tests and physicalexaminations were performed. Serum Vit. B levels from 50 non-vegetarians ranged from 328 to 904Pg'ml. of the 46 vegetarians studied,32 cases (69.5%)were below 328 Pg'ml,7 cases (15.2%) Were between 328 to 500Pg1ml, and the remaining 7 cases hadlevels from 400 to 700 Pglml. Despite ofconsiderably low serum Vit. B valuesin about 70% of vegetarians, none ofthese had appearent signs or symptomesof Vit. B deficiency. The serum Fe range from 191nonvegetarians was 47-179 Pg'100 ml.Only one of 46 vegetarians had lessthan 47 Pg(100 ml. The nonvegetarianshad a range of serum TIBC of 263-407Pg'100 ml. Four vegetarians had lessthan 263'100 ml, but the hemoglobinvalues were within normal.
