- 英文摘要: The removal of the residual carbon in iron powder in a quartz tube reactor was studied. The carbon was removed as CO by reacting it with CO/sub 2/. The experiments were performed under atmospheric pressure with a temperature between 893-923K, CO/sub 2/ partial pressure between 0.1-0.4atm, and particle size between 40-200mesh. The changes of atomic number of carbon and oxygen in the gas phase during the reaction were used to distinguish the decarburization and oxidation of the powder. The results revealed that carbon removal occurs before iron oxidation. Two models, nucleation model and modified shrinking core model, were developed for the decarburization. The nucleation model is for low level (<30%) of carbon removal, and the modified shrinking core model is for high level(>50%) of carbon removal.
