- 中文摘要: The annual growth cycle of vine, development of berry and the seasonal changeof dry matter levels in shoot of the Royal Red grapes growing in Pintung, Chayi,Changhwa and Hsinchu areas were observed. Results of this observation are sum-marized as follows. 1. The shoots began to grow after breaking the buds in March and its mostrapid growth occurred in mid-May. From then to early-June, the growth curvesstarted to slacken for a short period and upward again. Shoot elongation has alsoslowed down while the fruit ripening. After berries were harvested the shootscontinued to grow into late-October and were ceased by lower temperature. No difference of shoot growth pattern between the four locations have beenfound, except they start to grow earlier and ceased latter in southern area. 2. On the seasonal change of dry matter levels in the shoot no significant differ-ence have been observed among the four locations. The lowest level, under 10%,occurred when shoots start to grow, and rapidly increased in 20% in mid-April, 25%in mid-May, and 35-40% were observed from June to early-July. Owing to the effectof shoot growth after the fruits were harvested, the level of dry matter was slightlylowered. As the shoot growth gradually decreased in August and September thelevels of dry matter were striking increased and more than 50% of the levels wasrecorded before leaves falling. 3. The berry development of the Royal Red grapes, three distinct growth periodswere identified. After berry set, the first of rapid increase occurred for about 30days. And then a period of delayed increase was under way. According to thelocations, duration of this period was 10-15 days; The shorter was in the southernand the latter in the northern part. The second period of rapid increase was lessrapid than the first and continues until the fruit ripening, then abruptly ceases atthe same time. The development of nucellus and integument were quic 1y reaching maximumor nearly maximum size during the first period of rapid increase of the berry. Theembryo begins a rapid enlargement in the period of delayed increase and reachingmaximum size when the berry enter the second period of rapid increase. 4. According to the observations, the correlation of the growth of embryo, nucellusand integuments and the pericarp of the berry was closely related.
