- 英文摘要: Arctiurn lappa Linne (burdock) is a perennial herb whichis popularly cultivated as a vegetable. In order to evalu-ate its hepatoprotective effects, a group of rats (n=10)was fed a liquid ethanol diet (4 g of absolute ethanol/80 ml of liquid basal diet) for 28 days and another group(n=10) received a single intraperitoneal injection of0.5 ml/kg carbon tetrachloride (CC1 ) in order to poten-tiate the liver damage on the 21st day (1 day before thebeginning of A.lappa treatment). Control group ratswere given a liquid basal diet which did not contain abso-lute ethanol. When 300 mg/kg A. lappa was administeredorally 3 times per day in both the 1-day and 7-day treat-ment groups, some biochemical and histopathologicalparameters were significantly altered, both in the etha-nol group and the groups receiving ethanol supple-mented with CC1 . A. lappa significantly improved var-ious pathological and biochemical parameters whichwere worsened by ethanol plus CC1 -induced liver dam-age, such as the ethanol plus CC1 -induced decreases intotal cytochrome P-450 content and NADPH-cytochromec reductase activity, increases in serum triglyceride lev-els and lipid peroxidation (the deleterious peroxidativeand toxic malondialdehyde metabolite may be producedin quantity) and elevation of serum transaminase levels. It could even restore the glutathione content and affectthe histopathological lesions. These results tended toimply that the hepatotoxicity induced by ethanol andpotentiated by CC1 could be alleviated with 1 and 7 daysof A. lappa treatment. The hepatoprotective mechanismof A. lappa could be attributed, at least in part, to itsantioxidative activity, which decreases the oxidativestress of hepatocytes, or to other unknown protectivemechanism(s).
