- 中文摘要: A feeding experiment by the use of Long-Evans strain rat on corn and sweetpotato rations supplemented with methionine, both methyl and a-carbon labeled, wascarried out. Comparisons on the difference in total C14 retention, and in the distributionof C14 activity in various organs as well as fractions of liver protein were obtained.The radioactivity in the expired C*O2 decrease gradually, however, there is nomarked difference shown between two different rations, but C*O2 expired froma-carbon is slightly higher than that from methyl carbon as expected. The retentionof C14 activity in rat fed corn ration is definitely higher than that of sweet potatoration when methyl carbon labeled methionine is supplemented. An adverse result isobtained when a-carbon labeled methionine is used. There is a better absorptionand higher metabolic rate, especially transmethylation, in rat fed with corn ration;but the rat fed sweet potato ration has a good result to utilize the supplementedmethionine.
