• 中文摘要： 本文試圖探討在社會階層研究中仍未獲重視的美學面向。以台中市生活風格研究群落分析結果以及選取的菁英樣本，進行審美語言的訪談實驗。分析審美判斷與社會出身、養成教育、品味與意見能力的關係，並討論審美判斷如何成為階層社會化的結果，以及如何成為階層競爭的手段。
• 英文摘要： This paper attempts to explore the aesthetic dimension that is still under represented in the literatureof social stratification. Using the results of the life-style studies of Taichung City and a selected sample ofTaichung elite, the study conducted an interview-experiment and analyzed the relations between aestheticjudgment and the social origin, upbringing, opinion competence, taste and other domestic moralities suchas child-rearing and parental authority. Following the findings, the paper proposes a critical discussionto the significance of the aesthetic dimension as a contested terrain for various social strata.
