- 中文摘要: We examine a number of physics textbooks for beginning undergraduates that have been in common use in Australian universities over recent years, looking in particular at their approach to a section of classical physics. Absorption spectroscopy has been of enormous importance, especially in astronomical research. It has greatly added to our knowledge of stars and the universe in general. Therefore, although the physics is well established and has a long history, it is being applied today in one of the more vibrant and active areas of physics. We argue that by failing to show the origins of theory (explanation) in human experience, and its relation to theories of making and doing (knowhow, technology), the presentations fail to give students a realistic understanding of the nature of physics.
