- 中文摘要: 溫室香瓜可能發展為本省重要高級水果,但由於目前所栽植的品種如臺中1號,因其抗病性甚弱,尤其對白粉病幾乎沒有抗病性,此為發展本省溫室香瓜之限制條件。為解決此問題,筆者等曾由日本引進抗白粉病的伊予2號,供行栽植。惟伊予2號係一代雜種,在種子的來源極有限的情形下,無法大量栽植,故試由其後代之繁殖,選拔一新品種,經數年來的選拔,現已由其中獲得具有與伊予2號相同或更強的抗白粉病品系,並暫命名為中興1號。為瞭解此新品系之特性,曾進行生理及一般特性之比較觀察,獲知中興1號在各方面的特性均與伊予2號極為相似,且抗白粉病及一般特性均甚佳,故可作為推廣之用。 又為解決換土之困難,曾利用蒸氣消毒法,對栽植過溫室香瓜的土壤,進行蒸氣消毒,並與新土作比較,獲知連作至第三次時,雖未發生病害枯萎現象,但連作區之植株,生長初期之發育受極明顯的阻害,雖此阻害經一段時間後,大部分會恢復,但似可視為連作的界限次數。
- 英文摘要: Muskmelon is expected to become one ofthe high-quality fruits in Taiwan. However,resistance of the currently cultivated varietyTaichung No. 1 to powdery mildew is verypoor. For improving its resistance to diseases,a powdery mildew resistant variety bred by Dr.Tamai of Japan, Iyo No. 2, was inrtoduced.Since this variety is an F hybrid, it isimpossible to reproduce it in Taiwan. Throughrepeated selfing and selected for generations, anew variety named Chung-Hsing No. 1 wasobtained and found suitable for commercialcultivation in Taichung, its resistance topowdery mildew being better than that of IyoNo. 2. Furthermore, its general characteristicswere similar to those of Iyo No. 2 in a seriesof comparative experiments. To minimize the trouble caused by soilchanging, the steam boiler could be used todisinfect the cultivated soil. However, thegrowth of melon on disinfected soil wasimpaired at the early growing stage when thesoil was used for three consective times, eventhough death caused by diseases did not occur.Although this growth impairment could bemostly recovered after a while, the consectiveplanting appears to be limited to only threetimes.
