夏季侵臺颱風的強度變化研究

本文利用過去20年(1959~1978)7~9月西太平洋67個侵臺颱風資料,分析颱風中心氣壓變率、最大風速變率與經度、緯度、地理位置的相關。並探討強度變化的地理分布與平均環流、平均海溫的氣候關係。 結果顯示123°E為7~9月颱風在東西方向的強度增減分界,18°N為7月和9月,而23°N為8月颱風在南北方向的強度增減分界。各月侵臺颱風南北兩類強度變率在各經度的異同亦經求出。 此外並發現20°N以北強度加強區與黑潮高水溫一致,太平洋加強區與200mb反氣旋、脊線及速度輻散場一致。各月颱風路徑與500mb平均環流及脊線位置密切關連。

Sixty seven typhoons affecting the island ofTaiwan over the western North Pacific areselected in the summer season (July, August,September) during the past 20 years (1959-1978)for the present study. Variations of the intensi-ty changes with respect to the longitudes, lati-tudes and geographical locations are analyzed.Relationships between intensity changes and themean upper circulations as well as the sea sur-face temperatures are also studied. A mean natural boundary between the in-tensifying typhoons and the decaying typhoonsis found. The boundary is at about 123°E forJuly through September in the east-wes direct-tion, 18°N for July and September and 23°N forAugust in the north-south direction. Similari-ties and differences between the northern andthe southern typhoons are also shown. In addition, it is found that region of max-imum intensity change to the north of 20°Ncoincides with the warm Kuroshio and regionof maximum intensity change over the Pacificcoincides with the area of anticyclone, ridgeor speed divergence at 200 mb. Flow patternsand ridge positions at 500 mb are found to beclosely related to the typhoon tracks in thestatistical sense.
