- 中文摘要: 本研究的目的在於瞭解預測我國國小三至五年級學童科學成就之變因。38所國小(2950人)參與研究。所選擇的變因有(1)家庭背景;包括學童父母的教育及職業,學生的年齡及性別;(2)學業成績:包括國語、數學、及科學成就;(3)學校大小;(4)任課教師是否接受過在職訓練。資料以SPSSX套裝軟體分析各項變因之頻率分布,相關及迴歸分析。 研究的結果顯示本研究所選擇之變因平均可解釋50%的科學成就之變異。其中父親的教育可說明4%之變異;家庭背景變因可說明9-13%之變異;過去的科學成就可說明10-45%之變異;數學成績可解釋20-30%之變異。 教師之在職訓練、學校大小、學生的性別各能解釋1%以下之變異。 探討教師在職訓練之成效,科學課程與測驗之間之一致性及有效學校之特色均為進一步可行之研究。
- 英文摘要: The purpose of this study was to identify strong predictors of science achievement for gradesthree to five in the Republic of China. There were 38 schools (2950 students) involved. Selectedvariables included:(1)students' background variables including students' parental education andoccupation,students' age and gender;(2)academic variables including Chinese, mathematics, andscience achievement;(3)school size; and (4)teacher inservice training. Data were analyzed through frequency, correlation and multiple regression. Stepwise multi-ple regression was run separately for each semester by using student's background,Chinese andmathematics final scores, and previous science test scores as predictors; the current science scorewas the criterion. Results indicated that the selected variables explained an average of 50% of the variance ofscience achievement. Home background accounted for 9-13%of the variance. Within the homebackground category, fathers' educational level was the strongest predictor and accounted forabout 4% of the explained variance. Previous science scores accounted for 10-45%of the variancewith a mean of 32%. When home background and scholastic ability were removed, previous sci-ence scores accounted for 10-15% of the variance. Mathematics achievement accounted for anaverage of 32% of the explained variance (20-30% of the variance when home background wasremoved). Inservice teacher training, school size, and students' gender each individually accounted forless than 1%of the variance of science achievement. Further studies related to the effectiveness of inservice teacher training, congruence of cur-riculum objectives and science tests items, and characteristics of effective schools are recommend-ed.
