A stirred membrane cell of simple construction is conveniently utilized
to study the basic performance characteristics of blood oxygenation. Since blood is
a physiological fluid as well as a chemical solution containing hemoglobin, the
mechanism of its oxygenation is complicated. There involves mass transfer with
chemical reactions and in addition, the degree of blood trauma during the oxygenation
can not be ignored. The intricate problems of in vitro blood oxygenation were
studied at large using the stirred membrane cell.
This paper presents the development and solution of a simple mathematical model
to describe the system. It is seen that time history of the concentration Co2 and CHb
during oxygenation, is sufficiently described by the simulation curves with coupled
combination of three parameters KA, k1 and k2. Methodologically, in light of the
mathematical model, the transport parameter, K and the Kinetic parameters, k1 and
k2 may determined with limited numbers of experimental data which are to be
obtained under specified operational data which are to be obtained under specified
operational conditions.
The experimental detail and data analysis of blood oxygenation utilizing the
stirred membrane type oxygenator will be presented in a subsequent paper. - 中文關鍵字: --
