Effect of molecular weight on crosslinking behavior of oil modified alkyd
resin was investigated. These were done by determinating the infrared spectra
and the degree of unsaturation of the fractionated prepolymers and extractable parts
of crosslinked polymers. It is found that the large molecular weight molecules
crosslinks quicker than the smaller molecular weight ones. This were explained:
the number of double bonds, the crosslinking functional group, per molecule is
higher in large molecular weight molecules, and it took only one join site to form
