複誦先行項目的?尋成份及次序

本研究的目的是在於探討:(a)複誦的搜尋成份之功能及(b)複誦次序對於回憶之效果。使用「複誦控制」程序,當一個項目及代表三個先前項目的線索出現時,受試者(23名大學一年級學生)複誦該一項目及三個先前項目。代表先前項目的線索是整個項目(W線索),一個項目的一半(H線索),或者表示一個項目的先前程度的數字(N線索)。複誦先前項目的次序為向前或向後的次序。實驗結果發現經過兩次的嘗試,H及N字回憶的增加率高於W字回憶的增加率。複誦次序的影響則顯露在對「新近」項目及「前新近」項目的複誦次序上。本文提出「提取路線」假說,藉以解釋本研究的發現及有關現象。

This study investigates the function of search component in rehearsal and the effect of rehearsalorder on recall. With a controlled-rehearsal procedure, 23 college freshmen rehearsed the current and pre-ceding items when an item and three cues standing for the three preceding items were presented. A cuestanding for a preceding item was the whole item (W cue), half of the item (H cue), or a number indicatinghow far preceding the item was (N cue). The order of rehearsing preceding items was either forward orbackward. It was found that recall of H and N words increased at faster rates than recall of W wordsfrom the first to second trial. It was also found that rehearsal order had a superimposing effect on thedominant tendency to recall recency items in backward order and prerecency items in forward order. Thissuperimposing effect was especially visible since it dwindled rapidly on the second trial. A retrieval routehypothesis that emphansizes the importance of search component in rehearsal was advanced to accountfor the present findings and other related phenomena.
