- 英文摘要: The adsorption of para, meta and ortho-xylenes on a commercial adsorbent for the PAREX process (Ba, Sr exchanged Y reolite) were studied both in liquid-solid and vapor-solid systems. The saturation capacity of this zeolite was much lower than the reported value of K-Y zeolite. The selectivity of para-xylene was also lower in K-Y zeolite. However, like the case of K-Y zeolite, the selectivity changed strongly with composition. Therefore, one must take the variable selectivity into consideration when modelling the PAREX process. The results indicated that para-xylene formed a highly non- ideal adsorption system with either ortho or meta xylene. If the equilibrium data were analyzed with the Real Adsorption Solution Theory (RAST), an unrealistically low activity coefficient would be obtained. The simplified statistical model of Ruthven might be a better approach to describe the adsorption in this system.
