- 英文摘要: In the present study, a simple method was provided in determining the mass transfer coefficients of solutes between two immiscible phases. A constant interfacial area cell (or Lewis type cell) was used as the apparatus for measuring the mass transfer rates of solute. A simple model, which included the equilibrium of solute between two phases and the two-film theory to account for the rate of mass transfer across the interface, was derived. The greatest advantage in using this method to estimate the mass transfer coefficients of substances is its validity for covering a wide range of distribution coefficients of solutes. Experimental work, in which phenol was extracted from the aqueous phase with sulfuric acid salt of trioctylamine,.lbrak.(TOA)/sub 2/S.rbrak., was conducted to get the mass transfer coefficients. The obtained mass transfer coefficient is independent of the interfacial area between two phases. A lower initial concentration of phenol in the aqueous phase will provide a higher value of the mass transfer coefficient. Increasing the concentration of(TOA)/sub 2/S will lead to a slight increase in the mass transfer coefficient.
