- 中文摘要: The classical equilibrium equations for thin elastic shells formulated by A. E. H.Love are compared with the new force equilibrium equations developed by linearanalysis and non-linear analysis by L. J. Hart-Smith. And in the application to thebuckling of circular cylindrical thin shells under uniform axial compression, theclassical results obtained by S. P. Timoshenko and J. M. Gere are compared withI the results from the new theory. It is pointed out that (1) the equations developedby linear analysis is not suitable to solve problems which cannot be solved bymembrane theory due to its non-resistibility to shear-force, and (2) the results (bothclassical and new) obtained are available for the large number of only. Andfinally the author concluded that the Kirchhoff-Love hypothesis is a powerful toolin the thin shell theory (whether classical or new), but the hypothesis does notnecessarily to require zero shear stresses at the same time.
