- 中文摘要: Through theoretical analysis and content analysis, this essay attempts to re-explore the meaning of the Chinese term " 教學(teaching)". There are six parts in the essay: the first part introduces problems of the Chinese term "teaching"; the second part explains the traditional meaning of the Chinese terms " 教(teach)"; " 育(nurse)", and "學 (learn)"; the third part explains the relationship among "teach", "nurse", and "learn"; the fourth part deals with the use of the Chinese term " 教學(teaching)" and "教育 (education)"; the fifth part comnent on the use of the Chinese term "teaching"; and final part concludes that: 1. the Chinese term "teaching" has had different meanings from the past to present. 2. the Chinese term "teaching" has had two different meanings: teaching, teaching and learning. 3. in order to avoid confusion over those different meanings the author suggests that the Chinese term "teaching" should be changed from "教學 " to "教導 ".
- 英文摘要: 在這篇論文裡,繼續筆者過去的發現與論證,並將相關論點予以充實與完備。本文探討的重點有上古對教字的使用情形、中庸裡修道之謂教字句的檢討、教育與教學關係的再釐清、教學改教導之合理性,及西文education、pedagogy、teaching、instruction之中文譯名的對照等。華文地區近數十年教育學術界習慣於使用教育與教學二語辭,並用以建立相關的思考體系,但筆者經由歷史演進的探討發現這只是近百年來的特殊狀況,同時如此使用教育與教學語辭也限制了我們的思考方向,故建議教學語辭之使用應予以更改,教導二字對應teaching是較佳的選擇。
