玄武岩玻璃陶瓷

烘爐山區之玄武岩,經熔融成玻璃後,藉二階段式的熱處理,可形成玻璃陶瓷材料。即在655°C做 3.5 小時的結核熱處理形成磁鐵礦的晶核;再於880°C做 1.5 小時的結晶生長熱處理形成輝石的晶體。最後之玻璃陶瓷試片晶體粗度約在0.8~1.0 間。由硬度、彎曲強度及耐碳酸侵蝕等性質,吾人認為此種材料比較適合當作建築材料使用。

Basalt from Hunglushan, northern part ofTaiwan, has been found that it can be used tomanufacture glass ceramics with melting andheat treatments. The glass was first treatedat 655°C-3 1/2 hrs. for nucleation to formmagnetite nuclei, and then at 880°C-1 1/2 hrs.for crystallization to form pyroxene. Thecrystal size of the basaltic glass ceramics wasabout 0.8-1 after these treatments. Fromthe properties of bending strength, hardness,and resistance to weathering, it was thoughtto be suitable for building constructions.
